O grupo surgiu em 1994 aproximadamente na cidade de ArcoVerde sertão de Pernambuco como um grupo teatral e poético, logo pegou força. Foi no festival eclético Recbeat no ano de 1999 em Recife que a banda apareceu para o público, como um grupo musical com um show consistente e ritimado por tambores bem marcados levando poesia e lirismo aos espectadores e se firmando como espetáculo internacionalmente conhecido.

Contando com José Paes de Lira, um virtuoso violão de Clayton Barros, Emerson Calado e os tambores de Rafa Almeida e Nego Henrique. O Cordel do Fogo Encantado percorrer o país, como uma circo poético levando a todos a poeira da seca do sertão e a literatura de cordel tao marcante na região. O espetáculo se completa com um fundo místico e apocalíptico é ao mesmo tempo simples e profundo em sua poética cantada e declamada por Lirinha. Este encerra em si um entusiasmo teatral que inevitavelmente  lembra o Jim Morrison.
